What WiFi network should I use?

For personal devices such as your mobile phone or laptop you will join the “BurnleyCollege” WI-Fi network. For College owned devices, they will be joined automatically to the network.

The password for the network is your college username and password. For specific instructions for your device, please see the instructions below:

The Burnley College network uses your college login as the password (If you are unsure what your college logon is, please read the following article – https://helpdesk-burnley-ac-uk.spu.bkv.mybluehost.me/knowledge-base/what-is-my-username-and-email-address/

Please be aware, if you change your college password, you will need to change your password on your device to re-enable WiFi access. If you do not it may result in your account becoming locked out.

How do I join the WiFi?

The process of joining the WiFi is slightly different depending on your device. Please scroll down to find your device and follow the instructions.

iPhone/iPad

1. Go to settings
2. Go to Wi-Fi
3. Choose the Burnley College network and fill in the username and password with your college login and press join.

Android

Go to settings

To to Wi-Fi

Choose the Burnley College network and set the following:

EAP method – PEAP
Phase-2 authentication – None
CA certificate – Do not validate
Identity – See below:

Staff – username e.g jbloggs
Students – student number e.g 100108321

Anonymous identity – LEAVE BLANK
Password – Type in your Burnley College password

PLEASE NOTE – If you have a Google Pixel phone you will need the below settings:

domain – burnley.ac.uk
EAP Method – PEAP
Phase 2 – MSCHAPv2
CA Certificate – Use System Certificate
Online Certificate Status – Do Not Verify

Press Connect

Windows PC

1. Press the WiFi icon on the bottom right of the screen
2. Choose the Burnley College network and type in your Burnley College username and password.
3. Press “Connect” when prompted about a certificate

MacOS

1. Press the WiFi signal icon on the top right of your screen
2. Choose the Burnley College network and fill in the username and password with your college login and press join. Please leave the Mode as “Automatic” (Please note, you maybe asked to trust a certificate provided by Burnley College, please enter your LOCAL mac password to add the certificate).

Chromebook

1. Press the WiFi icon on the bottom right of the screen and then press the down arrow under the WiFi icon
2. Choose the Burnley College network and fill in the below details:
   
   EAP Method – PEAP
   EAP Phase 2 authentication – Automatic
   Server CA certificate – Do not check
   Identity – See below:
   
   Staff – username e.g jbloggs
   Students – username e.g 100108321
   
   Password – Your Burnley College password
   Anonymous Identity – LEAVE BLANK
   
3. Press Connect
